The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Julian WaluschykDietAssistant for PKU does not collect, store or transmit personal data to the developer, and the developer has no access to the data you enter in the app. The app needs no account and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Downloading and paying for the app is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); those companies process data under their own privacy policies, and the developer has no access to or influence over it.
On iOS, the app offers an optional iCloud sync. Only if you switch it on in the app's settings, your entries are synchronized between your devices using Apple's iCloud service (CloudKit, private database). This covers your daily log, blood values, your own products and your favorite products. These entries can include health-related information. The data is stored in your own iCloud account, under your Apple ID, and is processed by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy. It is not stored in a place the developer can access, and the developer cannot read it. You can switch the sync on or off at any time in the app's settings.
The camera is only used to read barcodes. The camera image is processed on your device and is not stored or sent anywhere. When you scan a barcode, the app sends the barcode number to the open database Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org, operated by the Open Food Facts association) to retrieve the product's nutrition data. As with any internet request, your IP address is transmitted to that service. No other data from the app is sent. The privacy policy of Open Food Facts applies to this request.
When you open the recipes section, the app loads recipe titles and images from the website phefux.de. As with any internet request, your IP address is transmitted to the operator of that website, whose own privacy policy applies. No other data from the app is sent.
If the Android app crashes, it asks whether you want to send a crash report. Nothing is sent unless you confirm: the report is then prepared as an email in your email app, and it is only sent to the developer (report.dietassistant@gmail.com) when you send that email. The report contains technical information such as the app version, device model, Android version and an error log, plus an optional comment you can add. It is used only to find and fix the error. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).
Reminders for taking your amino acids are local notifications on your device and need no data transfer. On Android, your device's backup function may include the app's data in your Google account backup, depending on your device settings; this is handled by Google under its own privacy policy.
When you visit this website, the web server automatically records technical data in log files: your IP address, date and time of the request, the requested page, the amount of data transferred, and the browser and operating system you use (user agent). This is necessary to deliver the website and to keep it secure. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website). The website is hosted by an external hosting provider acting as a processor on behalf of the developer. Log data is not combined with other data sources.
This website does not use cookies of its own, analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Fonts, icons and scripts are served from this website itself; no external servers are contacted to display it (except where described in 3.4 for the contact form).
If you use the contact form, the data you enter (name, email address, subject and message) is used to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, and otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries). If you contact the developer directly by email, the same applies to the data in your message.
To protect the contact form against spam, the contact page uses the reCAPTCHA service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (Google LLC, USA). reCAPTCHA is loaded only on the contact page. It analyses information such as your IP address, browser data, how long you stay on the page and mouse movements, and Google may set cookies in the process. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protecting the form against abuse). Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses. This website links to the App Store, Google Play, Instagram and protelino.com. No data is sent to these services until you click such a link. After that, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.
You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). If you have given consent, you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your rights, write to info.dietassistant@gmail.com.

This policy is updated when the app or the website changes in a way that affects it. The current version is always available on this page.
